Complaints Addressed by Other Agencies

Confidentiality of Student Records and Information

Parents and students are entitled to certain rights regarding student information under federal and state laws (for example, ). If you have a concern regarding the inappropriate release, withholding, or gathering of student information, below you can find information that may be helpful.

  • In addition to filing a complaint with ݮƵ, you also have the option of filing your complaint with the U.S. Department of Education's Student Privacy Policy Office (SPPO). ʱʰ’s&Բ; provides information such as who may file a complaint, reporting deadlines, and requirements for filing a complaint. It is critical that you meet SPPO’s reporting deadlines. Complaint forms are available in English and Spanish.

Health Concerns

Wage Disputes or Other Local Employment Matters

The  handles public school employee employment claims, including wage and salary disputes involving public schools. Criminal Activity

Allegations of criminal conduct do not fall within the jurisdiction of ݮƵ and should be reported to the appropriate law enforcement entities as well as to school officials.

Fraud, Waste, or Abuse in Texas

The State Auditor's Office (SAO) investigates allegations of fraud, waste, or abuse related to funds from the General Appropriations Act.
